OCEDC Spotlight - Army National Guard and Northwest Iowa Community College Nursing Program
Iowa National Guard and the NCC Nursing Program are in the O'Brien County Economic Development Corporation Spotlight this week. These two entities took part in the 2024 O'Brien County Career Day HUB, where area High School sophomore students were able to explore some of the great career paths available in O'Brien County. OCEDC wishes to thank Prairie View Campus and White Wolf Web all their hard work in hosting these students during the 2024 Career Day.

Description: The Iowa National Guard is a state agency of Iowa, and a reserve component of the United States military. It is empowered to function under control of the Governor, as a State asset in times of emergency or natural disaster, or if needed to carry out limited actions during non-emergency situations. The National Guard may also be called into federal service in response to a call by the President or Congress.
Northwest Iowa Community College Nursing Program

Description: The Associate Degree Nursing completion program is designed for graduates of the Practical Nursing program at NWICC, or for the Licensed Practical Nurse eligible to practice who wishes to continue study for an Associate Degree in Nursing (RN). Graduates are eligible to take the National Council Licensing Examination (NCLEX). Satisfactory performance on the NCLEX is required for practice as a Registered Nurse. Students in the ADN program learn current nursing theory through comprehensive class and laboratory sessions and apply this knowledge in a clinical/preceptorship at cooperating healthcare facilities. The one-year curriculum prepares students in medical-surgical, geriatric, obstetrical, pediatric, and psychiatric nursing areas. Graduates may also transfer credits to four-year programs to obtain their Bachelor of Science in Nursing.
